Notes on the preparation of initial and boundary concentrations (Revision date: 4/26/00) Software, some example jobs and documentation for preparation of UAM-V initial and boundary concentration files are included in the compressed tar file called uamvicbc.tar. Before attempting to install or use these files, you should already have installed UAM-V 1.30. Retrieve the files in the tar file using the command tar -vxf uamvicbc.tar For the simplest installation, you should be in the directory above the already installed "sample" and "src" directories when you issue the tar command. When located at the proper directory, the "ls" command should show read_me sample src (Additional directories may be present if you have already added files from other downloads.) In the src directory, four new directories will be added. The utility and filutil directories contain libraries of subroutines used by the initial and boundary condition software and other UAM-V preprocessors. The directories airqul and bndary contain programs to prepare the initial and boundary concentration files respectively. Prior to compiling the airqul and bndary programs the libraries. In each of the directories src/utility and src/filutil there are shell scripts called bldall that compile the source code and create the libraries. To prepare the libraries, edit the script gof77 and make sure that the options are appropriate for your compiler. Then run the bldall script. (bldall will access the gof77 script.) Once the libraries are complete, prepare the airqul and bndary programs by running the make command in each of the directories src/airqul and src/bndary. Be sure to check compiler options in each of the makefiles. A directory called icbc will be added under the sample directory. The directory sample/icbc contains jobs and data files used to create the initial and boundary concentration files used in the UAM-V sample simulation. The sample files use constant values for both initial and boundary concentrations. Documentation is provided in the file icbc_doc.zip. This documentation shows examples of more complex and detailed development of the initial and boundary files. Unzip this file to retrieve the files 9686cov.doc 968610.doc f1p10.gif f2p17.gif f3p26.gif The doc files are Word documents that comprise the cover and the body of the document. The gif files contain graphic figures from the document that should be printed and replace the pages 10, 17, and 26 of the document. There a number of different ways the ".gif" files included with this document can be printed. One is to import the file into MS Word using the "Insert", "Picture", "From file" menu options and then print from the file menu. Another way to print the ".gif" files is to open the file using Internet Explorer and then print from the file menu. The ".gif" files can also be printed from MS Photo Editor, but after loading the file and selecting print from the File menu, you must check the "Allow distortion" box.
